hey everyone, on a serious note, i would like to turn your attention toward a small list of organizations that work hard to help the citizens of chicago. black people, native americans, and many more people of color are targeted by police all across the US, but since recoil is set in chicago, it only feels right to focus on the groups there that are working hard to bring their community together and protect each other from violence. check out the work being done and consider throwing some cash their way:

» site | "Circles and Ciphers is a hip-hop infused restorative justice organization led by and for young people impacted by violence. Through art-based peace circles, education, and direct action we collectively heal and work to bring about the abolition of the prison-industrial complex."

» site | BLM Chicago is the Chicago chapter of Black Lives Matter, "an intersectional vehicle that values Black people and our right to self-determination."

» site | "Chicago Freedom School uses social justice and anti-oppression practices to work to transform oppression into liberation by naming, analyzing, implementing and teaching actions that dismantle systems of supremacy that give power and privileges to some at the expense of others."

» site | "Assata's Daughters was founded, planned, and operated by Black women, femmes, and gender non-conforming people to carry on the tradition of radical liberatory activism encompassed by Assata Shakur, to train up others in the radical political tradition of Black feminism, and to learn how to organize on the ground around the demand for Black liberation, particularly a demand for abolition."

there are of course many many more non-profits around chicago and your own local community, and i encourage you to seek them out. thanks for reading and fuck cops
